The gender equality index is one of the measures adopted in legislation for the freedom to choose one's professional future, carried by Muriel Pénicaud and Marlène Schiappa and promulgated on 5 September 2018. It should enable companies to measure their progress in this area, through four objective indicators (remuneration, increases, maternity and the ten highest salaries) and, if necessary, to implement corrective actions within the company.
